The sex industry has found yet a new medium to sell it’s seductive warez, the humble video game:
Pornography and online video games are joining forces.
You’ve heard of machinima — films made by altering video-game footage — but that’s not the only thing coming out of games these days. Players of the massively multiplayer online title Second Life have started a new type of pornographic magazine, one that passes up real-life models for sexy, in-world avatars.
The magazine, Slustler, is both shot and distributed in the world of the game. There, after throwing down 150 Linden dollars (approximately 60 cents), players can browse Slustler’s 100-plus pages per issue whenever they choose.
Thomas Struszka, Slustler’s editor, started the project this May. “In my opinion,” said Struszka, “the freedom and creative potential are what put Second Life above every other online world.”
Slustler features female models, partially or totally nude, in positions that range from suggestive to explicit. Though Struszka does some post-production touch-ups, it’s the game’s detailed graphics that make the magazine possible.
“Second Life is so good, (in-game visuals) can be sexually stimulating for the viewer,” said Struszka, who suggests that in some ways his magazine is more realistic than conventional porn. “The ‘girl next door’ effect is way higher than in real porn,” he said. “We’re dealing with a limited user base that comes together in a limited space…. You could actually meet the people you see in the magazine.”
Damn, pr0n and MMORPG. This is NOT a good combination for the socially inept misfits of this world
